Children learning in "3D" mode

家長心聲When my son was three years old, he was assessed as having slow development and dyslexia, with his intelligence bordering on being relatively weak. I was really confused at that time. In real life, my son was able to answer questions with ease, his response was quick, and his extracurricular knowledge was not bad either. Then why was there such an assessment result? It was only some time later that I learned that the assessment did actually not reflect the characteristics and needs of my son.

Owing to the lack of proper guidance and development of his characteristics, my son was all along unable to keep up with the curriculum requirements of primary and secondary schools. When he was almost 15 years old, I discussed with him and my husband, and decided to send him to the United States for further education. Before his departure, I had my son undergone an intellectual and psychological assessment by Dr. Jane Nam. Dr. Jane Nam did a comprehensive assessment for my son. She gave us a totally unexpected assessment result: my son's intelligence is at a relatively high level, his memory and learning tend to be in a three-dimension and image mode, and he thinks faster than he writes. That clearly explained why teachers had misread my son's case and thought that he was a student with slow learning. It also made me understand why my son, who spoke eloquently, always appeared to write in a jumpy and disjointed manner.

I am grateful to Dr. Jane Nam for her assessment and discovery. It was her discovery that made me understand my son better. My son also got a deeper understanding of himself as a result of that assessment. Dr. Jane Nam's philosophy is: everybody has his own unique wisdom and talents. So long as he is given proper teaching, his wisdom and talents will sprout and his learning ability will definitely move forward. Now that my son is studying in a school in the United States that adopts an activity approach, he can certainly develop his potential and enjoy learning. His progress today proves that Dr. Jane Nam's professional assessment was correct.
